Surrogacy UK is run by its members, for its members. We have taken some time to let you know a bit about us:

Steve Holford – Chairperson

“I joined SUK in 2008, with my wife Kerry and son Thomas. We came to SUK in the hope of finding a surrogate to help us have a second child, and sibling for Thomas. After over two years waiting, we were lucky enough to get ‘the call’ and hear that the wonderful Nicola wanted to get to know us.  Another year on and here we are awaiting the arrival of our daughter over Christmas 2011! Sometimes Kerry and I have to pinch ourselves, not quite believing how lucky we are to have met Nicola, Carl and the Smith family.  We’ve always found SUK to be a fantastically positive and supportive organisation, and we certainly wouldnt be where we are today without the hard work and dedication of so many volunteers who have made SUK such a success.”

“My wife Gail and I joined SUK in the summer of 2008. Gail and I are very happy and lucky in many ways. We have recently been very lucky thanks to Vicky and Andrew (+ their girls) and their generosity in helping Gail and me achieve this aim.”

“My name is Claire, I am 31 years old and have been a member of SUK for 5 years now and in that time I have achieved my dream of becoming a surrogate mother for my lovely special friends.  I introduced them to their gorgeous son on 23 March 2010.  I am now going into my second year of being part of the EC which I have really enjoyed.  I feel it was time I took part in volunteering to help with any issues, support or anything else that the organisation needs help with.  And I am glad to be doing it again for another year.  Surrogacy UK has been such a valuable support for me over the past few years and would not have managed to achieve my surrogacy journey without this support which I am grateful for.  I hope to make a difference in providing SUK with my help and support with various topics that require help with.   SUK will always be a big part of my life!”

Jayne Frankland – Surrogate Support And Liaison Manager

“I am a Founder Member of Surrogacy UK. I run the general enquiry line for Surrogacy UK as well as working alongside Sarah in Surrogate Liaison & Support. I take calls from both intended parents and surrogate mothers and am happy to answer any surrogacy related questions and help potential members through the joining process. My husband and I had 10 years of failed fertility treatment before turning to surrogacy to have our first child in 1996. We then went on to have 4 more children naturally and decided to “pay back the gift”. I was a surrogate mother myself in 2004 and 2006 and am currently pregnant with another surrogate baby.”

Sarah Wisniewski – Surrogate Support And Liaison Manager

“Surrogacy UK has been a part of my life for 5 years now, and in that time I have had the pleasure of giving my time to a wonderful organisation in various roles and also the opportunity to carry out information sessions in my area. I am now, along with Jayne – Surrogate support and Liaison manager, a role I am passionate about. As a Surrogate myself, I can understand the journey a woman and her family undergoes to try and help a childless couple. I think that it’s important surrogates are supported throughout the joining process and beyond. We want that process to be as smooth as possible.

Michelle Johnson – Information Sessions Co-ordinator

“My name is Michelle Johnson and I have been with Surrogacy UK for over 2 years now. I decided after my 4th son that I wanted no more children of my own but everything worked so I could do something lovely and help a couple have a child and I am still here trying with my second couple. With all the help I had received from SUK I thought that it would be fitting that I gave something back so I offered my help as a support worker and I am now Information Session Co-ordinator so feel free to contact me if I can help with support or information session queries.”

Helen Baker – Intended Parent Support Manager

“Hi I’m Helen, 42 and I live in Norwich. Our beautiful daughter Emily was born on October 20th 2006, through straight surrogacy. Last year I completed my Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, and I counsel adults and young people.
I have been an IP support worker for three years and I have now taken on the role of IP Support Manager. My role is to place IP Couples with a support worker as well as to support some couples myself and ensure that the support workers have someone they can turn to if they need assistance.”

“My name is Karla and I’ve been involved with Surrogacy UK as Membership Secretary since 2009.  Very good friends of mine had my God-Daughter through SUK which is how I became involved with the organisation; seeing friendships and family’s being created makes my job so rewarding each and every day.  I’m here to help potential members in answering any questions or queries and hope to make the joining process as easy and straight forward as possible for them.”
