Welcome to Surrogacy UK

We are a UK based voluntary organisation that provides information and support for anyone with an interest in surrogacy.

Whether you have been struggling with infertility for years, or have had it thrust upon you by illness, we understand what a heartbreaking situation it is to be in. Alternatively, you may be a potential surrogate mother that has decided to find out more about the subject. You may have read a magazine article or watched a television documentary which has sparked your desire to find out more about the subject. Either way, you have come to the place where you will find information, support and friendship. We are very pleased to welcome you and we hope that surrogacy can be the answer to your dreams.

There have been over 700 successful surrogate births in this country since the first one made the headlines in 1985. The vast majority of these have been wonderful experiences for everyone involved, although it is important to note that a few have not gone according to plan. It is therefore vitally important that you take the opportunity to gather as much information as possible in the early stages of your journey, thus you will be better equipped to cope with the myriad of emotions that you will encounter on your surrogacy journey.

Surrogacy UK was founded in 2002 and everyone involved in the day to day running of the organisation has first hand experience of surrogacy in one way or another. We are a non profit making organisation with no funding other than donations and membership fees.

We have pooled our collective knowledge and experiences to create this comprehensive website where you will find an extensive array of up-to-date information and professional advice, as well as links to our printed literature. Please ensure that you take the time to read through everything before contacting us. There's a lot of important information to take in but we're sure that most of the answers to your questions will probably be here.

Important Legal Information

Surrogacy is legal in the United Kingdom and reasonable expenses can be paid to a Surrogate Mother. There are however strict legal guidelines which must be followed. Under the terms of the Surrogacy Arrangements Act 1985, it is a criminal offence to advertise that you are willing to enter into a surrogacy arrangement. Any person found using this web site or related message board in breach of this legislation will be barred from future usage of the facilities. Messages posted on our message board that we consider to be advertising will be removed immediately.

Surrogacy UK does NOT initiate, negotiate, commission or facilitate surrogacy arrangements.

Although this website is accessible to anyone using the internet, the information contained herein is only relevant to residents of the United Kingdom.
