Life Insurance

Life insurance and critical illness cover is a vital safeguard for your Surrogate. Imagine the worst case scenario; her own children are left motherless as a result of your quest for parenthood. Maternal death occurs in 1 in 10,000 pregnancies.

We recommend the policy to run for 2 years prior to starting treatment. We say prior to treatment as there is always a possibility that the Surrogate may have an adverse reaction to the drugs or suffer an ectopic pregnancy which, if undetected, can be potentially life threatening.

It is sometimes difficult for Intended Parents to arrange a policy on behalf of their Surrogate, so ask her to take out the policy and reimburse the premiums.

You can investigate life insurance through any of the major insurance brokers. Critical illness cover is difficult to obtain as many policies exclude pregnancy. However, there are some companies that do offer critical illness cover although the premiums may be very expensive.
